Mailroom

Overview

Stable offers several features to receive, process, and organize physical mail. These APIs allow you to fully manage the lifecycle of mail.

Receiving mail

When mail arrives at an address, Stable creates Mail Items objects. You will receive a mailItem.created event, including a photo of an envelope, sender and recipient information, and any other metadata.

Scanning

When autoScan is turned on for a location, Stable scans the contents of each mail item automatically. Otherwise, you can request scans for each mail item.

Act on mail

You can act on mail items in several ways:

• Scan, Ship, Shred to manage the physical state of the mail item.
• Apply a tag, assign the mail item to a team, or archive the item to help with organization. These are also available as filters on list APIs.
• Deposit checks found in the mail item (coming soon).

Stay in sync

Use Webhooks as your main source of updates. Webhooks will notify you as soon as important mailroom events occur.
